Jakarta: The Indonesian government announced plans to send 10,000 tons of rice to support the people of Palestine as part of a humanitarian aid mission.
The rice will come from Indonesia’s national reserves and be transported by the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), either directly to Palestine or through Jordan, depending on logistical considerations.
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, stated on Thursday that the shipment is expected to be dispatched within the month. Preparations are underway to have the rice ready for loading within three weeks, confirmed Arief Prasetyo Adi, head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas).
The aid operation will be funded by Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry through the Indonesian Aid Foundation, reflecting Indonesia’s commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis affecting Palestinians. This shipment underscores Indonesia’s active role in providing tangible support amid ongoing challenges faced by the Palestinian people.
